Delivery driver insists on delivering not-my-food Typing this with a full belly, happened like an hour ago. I'm sitting on my computer, chatting with friends, realize I should probably make some dinner. So I get up, decide to fish some noodles and sauce out of the pantry, might throw some

kubasa in there. Start clearing off some workspace, and my apartment door buzzer goes off. I sigh, knowing it's probably not for me, but I answer anyways. "Delivery", he says. "I didn't order anything, wrong buzzer", and I hang up. He buzzes back again immediately - "D

delivery". I reply "Who's it for?", "Samuel", I tell them "There's no Samuel here, my name is Ninja", and I hang up. He Buzzes Back Again. So fine, I answer and say "I'll take it if you really want", buzz him in, and assume he'll figure out his mistake on the way up or something.

Nope, he comes, drops it off at my door, and knocks. I don my mask, open the door, and tell him to take a picture of his delivery because someone's about to be I. He does so, and walks away. Now, I don't blame him for a second delivery drivers, - especially third-party services,

get paid absolute peanuts. Every second he's not driving is lost money. If my address is the address on his phone, he did his job. I take the Very heavy bag into my house and plop it down on the table. I unwrap my loot...

I'm Canadian, of course I feel a little guilty. This is too big of a freebie. BUT I LITERALLY TOLD HIM THREE TIMES THAT IT'S NOT MINE.

My headache I've been fighting off all afternoon is thankful to not have had to cook, but someone else has essentially inherited my headache.

Acrobatic_Machine I ordered two Kebabs with fries and paid for it thru Just Eat Spain. Came on time and we were happy. Then the following two days they would show up around the same time. with the exact same order.

Some kind of fantastic glitch in their system. Never got charged for order 2 and 3.

Ochib A chain on pubs in the UK has a app that allows you to order food and drink to the table. It's always fun when you have had one to many, to order a side order of peas to a random table

PropellerGoblin My house number ends in an "8", and there is another address on the road that is the same as mine, but ends with a "B". They like their takeout, and I've lost count of the times I could have had free food.

hotlavatube Probably not what happened to you, but I've heard it's a common practice that a person ordering will put in the wrong address intentionally when their actual address is outside the delivery radius. They will put their real address in the comment field or try to get the delivery rerouted or, I

guess, show up at the delivery address to pick up their order. I've read a couple malicious compliance stories where the delivery guy just says " ☐☐" and delivers to the address listed on the order. Apparently, if the wrong address is not their fault, they still get paid.

Sithyrys522 Slightly off topic, but this reminded me of the time I tried ordering pizza off their app and my food never arrived. About an hour later my friend calls me asking why I sent him pizza. Apparently after ordering pizza at his place a few weeks prior I never fixed my address in the app. :(

summmerb Had the wrong order delivered (substituted for my own) to my house by Skip. put it in the oven and called customer service - giving them the order number written on the side of the bag. They said they couldn't retrieve the order and give it to the right person, "against policy".

They refunded my order and I got a Thai red curry for free.

Beatnuki Kudos to you for trying to refuse it - I get a delivery to my door about once a year nowadays of someone else's takeaway, and always cheerfully accept it if it's handed to me. Guess I'm more just maliciously peckish than maliciously compliant...

mc_it My streetname is one letter different from a nearly identical streetname about two miles away. Both are identical street types as well (cul-de-sacs that are named Court).

We get the other family's deliveries quite a bit - and it's often from the same restaurants from which we order as well, so the drivers get confused.
